Highlights
Accepted offer cashflow/bid cashflow
The two graphs in the sections below depict the cash flow associated with accepted bids and offers by Period and Fuel Type. It provides an insight into how much balancing actions cost and how the amount is influenced by the time of day and type of BMU used for balancing. Positive values on either graph reflect cost to the system (i.e. payments made to BSC Parties). Negative values show payments made by BSC Parties.
The Other fuel type category consists of Virtual Lead Party (V_), Supplier (2_) and additional Supplier (C_) BM Units which have no registered fuel type. For more information on BM Unit types see the ‘How are BM Units Categorised?’ webpage.

Unpaid BSC Charges
The graph in below shows the amount of BSC Trading Charges that have been unpaid by BSC Parties.
When BSC Trading Charges are left unpaid following the failure of a BSC Party the outstanding amount is mutualised by the remaining BSC Parties. The share each BSC Party pays of the outstanding amount is determined by the Default Funding Share. Failed BSC Parties have ceased trading and are identifiable in the graph below using their BSC Party ID.
There are also unpaid Trading Charges from BSC Parties that have not ceased trading. These Parties are grouped under BSC Party ID ‘ANON’ so that the publication of their unpaid Trading Charges does not negatively impact their ability to trade.
The cumulative number of Suppliers that have had a Supplier of Last Resort are also shown for context.

Highlights
During September, there were no further failing BSC Parties assigned a SoLR.
This graph and accompanying Excel files have been updated to provide more information following an Open Data Request to publish more information on Default Funding Shares (Data Request ID: DR343096). The BMRS Change Board (BCB) approved various data items related to DFS to be published under a BSC Open Data Licence and there were no appeals to the BCB’s approval.
Elexon has included all of the data items made in the original request for BSC Parties that have ceased trading within the Excel files. The data items are:
